Clatronic
Water level sensor / float switch error
Ice maker runs briefly, then stops and displays E3; ice basket remains empty or only partially filled.

Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical float in water reservoir, Faulty water level sensor (reed switch or electronic probe), Mineral buildup on level sensor, Damaged wiring between level sensor and control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and remove all water from the reservoir before working on the water system.
- Clean the reservoir: Remove the ice basket and access the water reservoir. Check for debris, scale, or slime that could block the float or sensor. Clean with warm water and a mild descaling solution safe for ice makers.
- Check the float movement: If your Clatronic model uses a float, move it up and down by hand. It should move freely and return smoothly. If it sticks, clean the float and its guide tube thoroughly.
- Inspect the level sensor: For electronic probes, clean the metal contacts with a soft brush and vinegar solution to remove mineral deposits. For reed‑switch types, ensure the magnet in the float is intact and close enough to the sensor body.
- Wiring and connectors: Trace the sensor wires to the main PCB. Reseat the connector and check for corrosion or broken conductors.
- Replace faulty sensor: If E3 persists after cleaning and inspection, replace the water level sensor or float switch assembly with a Clatronic‑compatible part.
