Possible Causes

Blocked ice shovel or tray by oversized ice cubes, Failed ice shovel motor, Broken gear or linkage in ice discharge mechanism, Faulty position sensor or limit switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before touching any internal moving parts.

  • Clear physical obstructions: Remove the ice basket and visually inspect the ice shovel or rotating tray. Remove any jammed or oversized ice cubes with a plastic utensil (never use metal tools that can damage the evaporator).
  • Check for ice buildup: If frost or ice has accumulated around the shovel mechanism, allow the unit to sit unplugged until all ice melts. Dry the area thoroughly before restarting.
  • Inspect the drive mechanism: Access the shovel motor and gears (usually behind a side or top cover). Look for cracked gears, loose set screws, or broken linkages. Replace damaged parts.
  • Test the motor: With the motor disconnected, measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace with the correct Clatronic ice shovel motor.
  • Position sensor / switch: Some models use a micro‑switch or Hall sensor to detect home position. Ensure the actuator tab is not bent and that the switch clicks mechanically. Replace the switch if it does not change state when actuated.
