Possible Causes
Dirty water reservoir, Bacterial growth in hoses or pump, Use of non‑potable or flavored water, Residual descaling chemicals not rinsed out
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and discard all ice and water before cleaning.
- Use fresh water: Always use clean, potable water. Avoid distilled water if the manual advises against it.
- Deep clean: Remove the ice basket and reservoir components. Wash with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly.
- Sanitize: Run a cleaning cycle with a food‑safe sanitizer or a solution of 1 tablespoon of white vinegar per liter of water. Then run at least two full cycles with clean water and discard the ice to remove any residual taste.
- Clean hoses and pump: If odor persists, have a technician disassemble and clean or replace internal hoses and the water pump.
