Possible Causes
Defective touch panel or button switch, stuck safety sensor (ice full or lid switch), control board logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the control panel.
Steps to restore start function:
- Reset the unit: Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in and attempt to start again.
- Check safety conditions: Ensure the ice basket is installed correctly, the lid is closed (if there is a lid switch), and the bin is not full. Clear any error icons.
- Test buttons: Press other buttons (size select, clean) and see if the display responds. If none respond, the control panel / keypad may be faulty.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front/top panel and check the ribbon cable between the keypad and main board. Reseat both ends.
- Replace keypad or board: If only the power/start button fails, replace the control panel / touchpad assembly. If all buttons fail, the main control board may need replacement.
