Possible Causes
Loose control board connectors, damaged display/control PCB, power surge damage, internal microcontroller failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control panel. Avoid touching board components with wet hands.
Steps to address E6:
- Power cycle: Unplug the ice maker for at least 15 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug back in and check if E6 clears.
- Inspect control connections: Remove the top or front panel to access the main control board and display PCB. Check all ribbon cables and wire harnesses for secure fit.
- Look for visible damage: Examine the boards for burn marks, cracked solder joints, or swollen components. Any such signs indicate board failure.
- Check for moisture: If condensation or a spill reached the control area, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth and allow several hours of air-drying before reapplying power.
- Secure ground connections: Ensure any ground wires or screws from the board to the chassis are tight.
- Replace faulty board: If E6 persists, replace the Costway main control board or display/control PCB as a matched set if specified by the model. Transfer all connectors one by one to avoid miswiring.
