Possible Causes
Clogged water pump inlet, failing circulation pump, airlock in water line, disconnected pump wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and drain water before accessing the pump.
Steps to resolve E7:
- Check water level and quality: Ensure the reservoir is filled with clean, filtered water. Very low water or heavy mineral content can cause flow issues.
- Inspect the pump inlet filter: Remove the ice basket and top cover to access the water tray and pump area. Many Costway units have a small mesh screen at the pump inlet—clean any debris or scale.
- Bleed air from the system: After cleaning, refill the reservoir and tilt the unit slightly backward and forward to help release trapped air bubbles from the pump.
- Check pump wiring: Locate the circulation pump (usually near the reservoir bottom) and verify its connector is firmly attached to the control board harness.
- Test pump operation: With the unit reassembled, plug it in and start a cycle. Listen for the pump running and watch for water flowing over the evaporator grid. If silent or weak, the pump may be failing.
- Replace defective pump: Remove mounting screws, disconnect hoses (have towels ready), and install a new Costway water circulation pump with the same flow rating. Reconnect hoses securely to prevent leaks.
