Insufficient Water Fill / Poor Freeze Pattern
Danby ice maker runs but produces very small or hollow ice cubes.

Possible Causes
Low water level in reservoir, Partially clogged water inlet valve, Restricted water pump flow, Mineral buildup on evaporator surface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing internal covers.
Steps to correct small or hollow cubes:
- Check water level: Fill the reservoir to the indicated line with clean, cold water. Avoid using distilled water unless recommended by Danby.
- Clean the pump and reservoir: Remove the ice basket and internal cover. Clean the reservoir and pump intake screen to ensure strong water flow over the evaporator.
- Descale the evaporator: Mineral deposits on the evaporator plate can cause poor cube formation. Run a cleaning cycle with a descaling solution, then wipe the plate gently with a soft cloth and rinse thoroughly.
- Inspect water inlet valve (built‑in models): Check for restricted flow or a partially clogged inlet screen. Clean or replace the valve if necessary.
After cleaning and ensuring proper water flow, run several cycles to see if cube size returns to normal.
