Possible Causes
Blocked or dirty infrared emitter/receiver, Misaligned ice level sensor bracket, Failed IR sensor board, Broken sensor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before cleaning or adjusting internal sensors.
Steps to resolve E7:
- Clean the sensor lenses: If your Danby model uses an infrared ice level sensor, locate the emitter and receiver near the top of the ice bin opening. Use a soft, lint‑free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently clean the lenses. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Check for obstructions: Make sure no ice, plastic, or packaging material is blocking the sensor beam path.
- Inspect alignment: Verify that the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and that their brackets are not bent. Gently adjust if misaligned.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the side or top panel to access the sensor harness. Check for loose connectors or damaged wires. Reseat the connector at the main control board.
- Test operation: Restore power and start an ice cycle. When the bin is empty, the unit should run. Cover the sensor beam with your hand; the unit should interpret this as “bin full” and stop after the current cycle.
- Replace the ice level sensor: If the sensor does not respond, replace the IR ice level sensor board or assembly with a Danby‑approved part.
Note: Some Danby models use a mechanical bin arm instead of IR sensors; in that case, check for a bent or stuck arm and correct or replace it.
