• Inspect the pump intake: Remove the ice basket and internal cover to access the pump. Look for debris or scale blocking the pump inlet or filter screen. Clean with a soft brush and water.
• Bleed air from the pump: After cleaning, fill the reservoir and gently tap the pump housing to release trapped air. Some models benefit from tilting the unit slightly to help purge air.
• Check wiring: Access the pump wiring from the underside or rear. Ensure the connector is firmly attached to the harness and control board. Look for signs of overheating or corrosion.
• Test the pump motor: With the unit unplugged, measure the pump motor resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If safe and within your skill level, you can briefly power the pump with a test cord (matching its voltage) to confirm operation.
• Replace the pump: If the pump is defective, order the correct Danby water circulation pump. Disconnect hoses (have towels ready), swap the pump, and secure all clamps tightly to prevent leaks.
• Reassemble and test: Refill the reservoir, restore power, and run a cycle. Confirm that water flows over the evaporator and E8 does not reappear.
