Ice Bin Full Sensor or Infrared Beam Fault
E09 displayed, ice maker stops and bin is full of ice

Possible Causes
Blocked bin full sensor, Misaligned infrared emitter/receiver, Failed bin level switch, Faulty sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before working near sensors or wiring.
Sensor checks:
- Empty the bin: Remove all ice from the storage bin and wipe it dry.
- Locate bin full sensor: Many De Dietrich models use an infrared beam sensor or mechanical bin switch near the top of the bin. Clean the sensor lenses with a soft, dry cloth.
- Check alignment: Ensure the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and not bent out of position.
- Test mechanical switch: If a lever-type switch is used, press it by hand and listen for a click. Test continuity with a multimeter; it should change state when pressed.
- Inspect harness: Follow the sensor wiring back to the control board. Reseat connectors and look for pinched or broken wires.
Note: If the sensor and wiring are intact but the error persists, the main control board may be misreading the sensor signal and require replacement.
