Possible Causes

Faulty evaporator thermistor, Defective harvest sensor, Control board timing error, Poor water distribution over plate

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing sensors or the evaporator plate.

Steps to correct ice shape:

  • Clean evaporator plate: Mineral buildup on the evaporator plate can cause uneven ice release. Use a food-safe descaler and soft cloth to clean the plate thoroughly.
  • Inspect water distribution: Ensure the water distribution tube or spray bar has all holes clear and is correctly positioned to cover the plate evenly.
  • Check evaporator thermistor: Locate the evaporator temperature sensor clipped to or near the plate. Verify it is firmly attached and not corroded. Test resistance against De Dietrich specifications; replace if out of range.
  • Reset control: After cleaning and sensor checks, perform a control reset (power off for 5 minutes, then restart) to clear any timing glitches.

Note: If irregular ice persists and sensors test correctly, the main control board may be mismanaging the harvest cycle and could require replacement.
