Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching moving parts or removing panels.

Noise source identification:

Listen carefully: Determine whether the noise comes from the water circulation pump (usually a humming/grinding near the sump) or from an internal air circulation fan.
Access pump: Remove the lower front panel or internal base cover to reach the pump. Check for debris in the impeller housing and remove any foreign objects.
Check pump bearings: Spin the impeller by hand; it should turn smoothly. Roughness or play indicates a worn pump that should be replaced.
Inspect fan mounts: For internal fans, ensure all mounting screws are tight and rubber grommets are intact to prevent vibration.

After repair: Reassemble panels securely and run a test cycle to confirm that noise and the E16 error are resolved.
