Possible Causes
Defective evaporator thermistor, Loose thermistor connection, Faulty compressor relay on PCB, Incorrect sensor calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the evaporator area or control board.
Diagnostic steps:
- Check evaporator thermistor: Locate the evaporator thermistor attached to the plate. Ensure it is firmly clipped and not hanging loose.
- Measure resistance: With the unit at room temperature, measure thermistor resistance and compare to De Dietrich specifications. Replace if readings are far off.
- Inspect wiring: Trace the thermistor harness back to the control board. Look for pinched wires or loose connectors.
- Control board relay: On the main PCB, inspect the compressor relay for signs of overheating. If the relay does not energize despite correct sensor readings, the board may be faulty.
Note: Sensor replacement is usually straightforward. If board-level faults are suspected, professional service is recommended.
