Possible Causes
Failed harvest motor, Defective harvest heater, Ice stuck to plate due to scale, Jammed mechanical linkage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before working near moving parts or heaters.
Steps:
- Manual defrost and clean: Allow the evaporator plate to thaw completely. Clean it with descaler to remove scale that can cause sticking.
- Inspect harvest motor: Locate the harvest motor assembly (often near the side of the plate). Check for broken gears or jammed linkages.
- Test motor: With the motor disconnected, measure resistance across its terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Check heater: Test the harvest heater for continuity. Replace if open.
Note: After replacing parts, run a test cycle and observe the harvest sequence to ensure smooth operation.
