Safety first: Unplug the unit and shut off water before descaling.

• Perform a deep descale: Use an EdgeStar-approved ice maker descaling solution. Follow the product instructions to circulate the cleaner through the water system and over the evaporator.
• Scrub accessible areas: Use a soft brush or cloth to remove loosened scale from the reservoir, bin, and evaporator edges. Do not scratch the evaporator surface.
• Rinse thoroughly: Flush the system with fresh water and run several ice cycles, discarding the ice.
• Add filtration: Install an inline water filter or softener to reduce future scale buildup.
