EdgeStar ice maker produces cloudy or white ice instead of clear cubes (on clear-ice models).

Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning the evaporator.

• Use filtered water: Connect the unit to a filtered or softened water supply to reduce dissolved minerals.
• Clean the evaporator: Descale the evaporator plate with an approved ice maker cleaner to remove mineral deposits that disrupt clear freezing.
• Check circulation pattern: Ensure the water distributor or spray bar is not clogged and that water flows evenly over the entire evaporator surface.
• Run several cycles: After cleaning and switching to better water, run multiple cycles and discard the first batches of ice.
