How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before working near the ice bin sensor.
- Defrost the bin area: Remove all ice from the bin. If there is heavy frost around the sensor, allow it to melt or use a warm, damp cloth to clear it. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.
- Clean sensor lenses: For infrared sensors, gently clean the emitter and receiver windows with a soft cloth. Remove any film or mineral deposits.
- Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor bracket is not bent and that the emitter and receiver are aligned correctly across the bin.
- Reset the control: After cleaning, leave the unit unplugged for 5–10 minutes, then restart and monitor ice production. Confirm that the unit stops when the bin is full.
- Replace the ice level sensor: If the unit continues to overfill or E14 returns, replace the EdgeStar ice level sensor assembly.
