• Inspect wiring: Ensure the thermistor wires are intact and not rubbing against moving parts or sharp edges.
• Reset the control: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes to reset the control board, then restart and observe ice size over several cycles.
• Replace the thermistor: If E16 persists and ice remains undersized, replace the EdgeStar evaporator thermistor with the correct part.
• Consider control board replacement: If a new thermistor does not resolve the issue, the main control board's freeze timing circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
