Possible Causes
Failed recirculation pump motor, Clogged pump inlet screen, Airlock in circulation system
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before working on the water system.
- Listen for pump operation: During the freeze cycle, you should hear water flowing over the evaporator. If you hear the compressor but no water movement, the pump may not be running.
- Check water level: Ensure the reservoir has adequate water. Low water can cause the pump to suck air and lose prime.
- Inspect the pump inlet: Access the reservoir and locate the circulation pump. Remove and clean any inlet screen or filter to clear debris.
- Prime the pump: After cleaning, fill the reservoir to the proper level and tilt the unit slightly (if safe to do so) to help purge air from the pump.
- Replace the circulation pump: If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent and tests open with a meter, replace it with an EdgeStar circulation pump assembly.
