Possible Causes

Leaking water line or fitting, Cracked reservoir or sump, Faulty leak sensor or float in base pan

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and shut off water supply immediately if a leak is suspected.

  • Inspect the base pan: Remove the front kick plate or lower panel and look for water in the base. Many EdgeStar models have a leak float or sensor here.
  • Dry the area: Use towels or a wet/dry vacuum to remove standing water. Allow the sensor and float to dry completely.
  • Check all water connections: Inspect the inlet valve, reservoir, circulation lines, and drain connections for drips or mineral trails indicating a slow leak. Tighten hose clamps and compression fittings as needed.
  • Examine the reservoir and sump: Look for cracks or seams that may be leaking. Replace the reservoir or sump if damaged.
  • Test the leak sensor: If no leak is found but E18 persists, the leak sensor or float switch may be stuck or faulty. Replace the EdgeStar leak sensor/float assembly.
