Possible Causes
Household voltage too low or too high, Loose power cord connection, Faulty voltage sensing circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not operate the unit on an unstable or improper power supply.
- Check the outlet voltage: Use a multimeter to verify that the outlet provides approximately 120 VAC (in North America) within the acceptable range. If voltage is unstable, contact an electrician.
- Inspect the power cord and plug: Look for burn marks, loose blades, or a loose connection where the cord enters the unit. Replace the cord if damaged.
- Avoid extension cords: Plug the EdgeStar ice maker directly into a properly grounded wall outlet. Extension cords can cause voltage drop.
- Reset the unit: After correcting any power issues, unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in and attempt to start a cycle.
- Control board replacement: If E20 persists despite stable line voltage, the voltage sensing circuit on the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
