EdgeStar ice maker shows E8; water may overflow the evaporator tray or the unit may not detect water level correctly.

Safety first: Unplug the unit and shut off water supply before working on the water system.

• Locate the water level float or sensor: Access the ice-making compartment and find the float or electronic water level sensor near the water reservoir or evaporator tray.
• Clean the float mechanism: If your EdgeStar model uses a mechanical float, remove it and clean with warm, soapy water to remove scale or slime. Ensure it moves freely up and down.
• Inspect for obstructions: Make sure no ice chunks or debris are blocking the float or sensor area.
• Check wiring: For electronic sensors, verify the harness is intact and firmly connected to the control board.
• Replace the water level sensor/float switch: If the float is cracked, waterlogged, or the sensor tests open/shorted, replace it with the correct EdgeStar water level sensor or float switch assembly.
