Fagor High Condensing Temperature or Poor Heat Rejection

High temperature alarm; ice melts quickly in bin; compressor runs continuously.

Possible Causes

Dirty condenser coil, Failed condenser fan motor, Blocked ventilation around unit, High ambient temperature beyond Fagor specifications

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before cleaning or working near the condenser fan.

  • Clean the condenser: Pull the unit away from the wall. Remove the lower front or rear grille to access the condenser coil. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the fins. For heavy grease, use a coil cleaner approved for refrigeration coils and rinse carefully.
  • Check airflow clearance: Ensure there is adequate space around the ice maker as specified in the Fagor installation manual (typically several centimeters at sides and rear). Remove any objects blocking vents.
  • Inspect the condenser fan: With the panel removed, restore power briefly and observe the fan. It should start whenever the compressor runs. If it does not spin, or is noisy and slow, disconnect power and replace the fan motor.
  • Verify ambient temperature: Confirm the room temperature is within the operating range specified by Fagor. Excessive heat can trigger high temperature alarms.

After cleaning and repairs, reset the alarm (usually by pressing the alarm or power button) and monitor operation. If the alarm returns, further diagnosis of the sealed system may be required.
