Possible Causes

Clogged drain hose, Blocked internal drain outlet, Failed drain pump (on pumped models), Improper drain hose routing causing backflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit and turn off water supply. Be prepared for water spillage when opening the drain system.

  • Inspect the drain hose: Follow the hose from the rear of the Fagor ice maker to the building drain. Remove kinks and ensure the hose slopes continuously downward (for gravity drain models).
  • Clear blockages: Disconnect the hose and flush it with hot water to remove sludge or scale. Check the drain outlet on the machine for debris and clean thoroughly.
  • Check drain pump operation: On models with a built‑in drain pump, access the pump under the unit. Look for obstructions in the pump inlet. Manually spin the impeller to ensure it is free. Test the pump by applying power (only if you are qualified) or by running a drain cycle and listening for pump operation.
  • Verify air gap: Ensure the drain hose is not submerged in standing water at the drain connection, which can cause backflow.

If the pump does not run or hums without moving water, replace the drain pump assembly.
