Possible Causes
Blocked condenser airflow, Failed condenser fan motor, Overcharged or undercharged refrigerant, Defective compressor internal overload
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the compressor to cool and disconnect power before touching it.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure the unit has proper clearance and that vents are not blocked by cabinets or other appliances.
- Clean condenser coil: Remove dust and lint as described in previous steps for high temperature faults.
- Check condenser fan: Verify that the fan runs whenever the compressor is on. Replace the fan motor if it is not operating correctly.
- Let the compressor cool: Leave the unit off for at least 30–60 minutes to allow the internal overload to reset, then restart and monitor.
If the compressor overheats again quickly, a sealed system or compressor fault is likely and should be handled by a refrigeration technician.
