Possible Causes

Failed evaporator heater element, Open thermal fuse on heater, Broken heater wiring, Faulty heater relay on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker. Heater circuits operate at mains voltage and can be hazardous.

  • Locate heater assembly: On applicable Fagor models, the heater may be attached to the evaporator plate or door frame to prevent icing.
  • Check continuity: Disconnect heater leads and measure resistance across the element. An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced.
  • Inspect thermal fuse: Some heaters include an inline thermal fuse. Test for continuity and replace if open.
  • Examine wiring: Look for burnt insulation or loose connections along the heater circuit.

After replacing faulty components, restore power and monitor for normal de‑icing without reoccurring E18.
