Possible Causes
Out-of-range ice mold sensor, failed bin level sensor, wiring fault to sensor, incorrect sensor calibration in control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing sensors.
- Step 1 – Identify sensor type: Some Fisher & Paykel ice makers use an optical bin level sensor, others use a mechanical arm or thermistor. Refer to your model's layout.
- Step 2 – Clean optical sensors: If equipped, gently clean the emitter and receiver windows with a soft, dry cloth to remove frost or residue.
- Step 3 – Inspect mechanical arm: Ensure the ice level arm moves freely and is not stuck in the raised (bin full) position.
- Step 4 – Check wiring: Inspect the sensor harness for damage or loose connectors at both the sensor and control board.
- Step 5 – Replace faulty sensor: If the sensor is physically damaged or tests out of specification, install the correct Fisher & Paykel replacement sensor.
After repair, restore power and clear the E1 code if necessary. If it returns, the control board may require service.
