Possible Causes

Stuck ice level arm in up position, blocked optical bin sensor, failed bin sensor module, mispositioned ice bin not engaging sensor correctly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before working near moving parts or sensors.

  • Step 1 – Empty and reseat bin: Remove the ice bin, empty it, and reinstall it fully. Ensure it slides all the way back and sits flat.
  • Step 2 – Check mechanical arm: If your model uses a mechanical shutoff arm, gently move it up and down. It should move freely and drop down when the bin is empty.
  • Step 3 – Clean optical sensors: For optical systems, clean the sensor windows on both sides of the bin area with a soft cloth to remove frost or residue.
  • Step 4 – Replace sensor: If the sensor remains stuck in "full" state, replace the Fisher & Paykel ice bin level sensor or arm assembly.

After repair, restore power and verify that the ice maker resumes production when the bin is empty.
