Possible Causes

Seized auger motor, jammed auger in ice bin, stripped auger drive coupling, wiring fault to auger motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the auger or dispenser motor.

  • Step 1 – Remove ice bin: Pull out the bin and inspect the auger for large clumps of ice or foreign objects. Break up clumps and remove obstructions.
  • Step 2 – Check auger movement: Rotate the auger by hand. It should turn with moderate resistance. If it is locked, inspect for ice buildup around the shaft.
  • Step 3 – Inspect drive coupling: Look at the coupling between the motor and auger. Replace if cracked or stripped.
  • Step 4 – Test motor: With the motor disconnected and power off, check for continuity across the motor terminals. Replace the Fisher & Paykel auger motor if open or seized.

Reassemble and test the dispenser. If E8 persists, further control diagnostics may be needed.
