Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the ice maker assembly. The mold heater operates at mains voltage.
- Step 1 – Remove ice bin: Pull out the ice bin to expose the ice maker assembly.
- Step 2 – Inspect for physical damage: Look for burn marks or melted plastic around the ice mold area, which can indicate a failed heater.
- Step 3 – Test heater continuity: With the ice maker disconnected, use a multimeter to check continuity across the ice mold heater terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed heater.
- Step 4 – Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the ice maker to the cabinet for pinched or broken wires, especially at hinge points.
- Step 5 – Replace assembly: On many Fisher & Paykel models, the heater is integrated into the ice maker module. Replace the complete ice maker assembly if the heater is open or damaged.
After replacement, restore power and allow 24 hours for normal ice production. If F3 returns, the ice maker control or main PCB may require professional diagnosis.
