Possible Causes

Failed Fisher & Paykel water inlet valve (ice maker section), clogged inlet screen or filter, frozen fill tube to ice maker, low household water pressure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator and disconnect power before removing water lines.

  • Step 1 – Verify water supply: Confirm the household shutoff valve to the refrigerator is fully open and that other cold water taps in the home have normal pressure.
  • Step 2 – Check external filter: If your Fisher & Paykel unit uses an external or internal water filter, replace it if it is older than 6 months or visibly clogged.
  • Step 3 – Inspect fill tube: Remove the ice bin and locate the plastic fill tube above or behind the ice maker. Check for ice blockage. If frozen, unplug the unit and gently thaw the tube with warm (not boiling) water or a hair dryer on low, keeping electrical components dry.
  • Step 4 – Test inlet valve: Access the rear lower panel to locate the dual or triple water inlet valve assembly. With power disconnected, remove the water line to the ice maker outlet and check the inlet screen for debris. Clean if necessary. If you have a multimeter, test the ice maker solenoid coil for continuity.
  • Step 5 – Replace valve: If the coil is open or the valve does not open when energized (technician test), replace the Fisher & Paykel water inlet valve assembly specified for your model.

Restore power and water, then monitor for proper filling. It may take several hours before new ice is produced.
