Possible Causes
Stripped ice ejector drive, broken ice rake, failed ice maker harvest motor, ice cubes frozen together in mold
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before handling the ice maker assembly.
- Step 1 – Inspect ice mold: Remove the ice bin and look at the ice mold. If cubes are oversized or frozen together, check freezer temperature (should be around -18°C / 0°F). Adjust settings if too cold or too warm.
- Step 2 – Check ejector arm: Gently move the ejector arm or rake. It should move with some resistance but not be completely loose or jammed. Broken or loose arms indicate mechanical failure.
- Step 3 – Look for stripped gears: If you hear the motor running but the ejector does not move, the internal gears may be stripped. This typically requires replacing the ice maker module.
- Step 4 – Replace assembly: Remove mounting screws and the wiring connector, then install the new Fisher & Paykel ice maker assembly. Ensure the harness is fully seated and the unit is level.
Restore power and allow 24 hours for normal ice production. Persistent F6 errors may indicate a control board issue.
