Possible Causes
Ice cubes oversized and sticking, ice maker not level causing cubes to jam, ejector arm hitting ice buildup, loose internal panels vibrating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before adjusting or removing the ice maker.
- Step 1 – Inspect cube size: Check if cubes are very large or fused together. If so, verify correct water fill and freezer temperature.
- Step 2 – Level ice maker: Use a small level to ensure the ice maker is horizontal. Adjust mounting screws or cabinet leveling feet as needed.
- Step 3 – Remove ice buildup: Clear any ice accumulation around the ejector arm and mold edges.
- Step 4 – Check panels: Press on internal freezer panels while the unit runs to see if noise changes. Tighten any loose screws.
If knocking continues and appears to be internal to the ice maker, replacement of the assembly is recommended.
