Possible Causes
Seeping water inlet valve, very cold freezer air directed at tube, poor insulation around fill tube, low water flow causing slow trickle and freezing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before thawing ice near electrical parts. Do not use open flames.
- Step 1 – Thaw the tube: Remove the ice bin and gently thaw the fill tube using warm water in a turkey baster or a hair dryer on low, keeping components dry.
- Step 2 – Check for valve seepage: After thawing, turn off the ice maker and observe the tube for several hours. If water slowly drips into the tube with no call for ice, replace the Fisher & Paykel water inlet valve.
- Step 3 – Adjust temperature: If the freezer is set extremely cold, raise the temperature slightly to reduce airflow freezing the tube.
- Step 4 – Inspect insulation: Ensure any factory insulation around the tube is intact and properly positioned.
Monitor over several days. Repeated freezing usually indicates a valve issue that must be corrected.
