Possible Causes
Failed water inlet valve, Clogged inlet screen, Low household water pressure, Kinked or frozen water supply line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the water supply and unplug the unit before servicing the water system.
Check water supply and inlet valve:
- Verify the household shutoff valve to the ice maker is fully open.
- Inspect the water supply line for kinks, crushing, or freezing (if routed through a cold area).
- Pull the unit out and remove the rear or lower panel to access the water inlet valve.
- Turn off the water supply, disconnect the inlet line from the valve, and check the valve's inlet screen for sediment. Clean gently with a small brush if clogged.
- Reconnect the line, turn water back on, and check for leaks.
- With the unit powered and calling for water, use a multimeter to verify that the valve coil is receiving 120 VAC (or rated voltage). If voltage is present but no water flows, replace the water inlet valve with a Frigidaire OEM part.
- After replacement, restore power, run a test cycle, and confirm proper fill and that the E5 code clears.
