Possible Causes

Control board firmware fault, Power surge damage, Loose control board connectors, Shorted low-voltage harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the control board.

Reset and inspect the control board:

  • Disconnect power for at least 5 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge.
  • Remove the front control panel or rear access cover (depending on model) to reach the main control board.
  • Inspect the board for burn marks, swollen components, or corrosion.
  • Check all wire harness connectors for a secure fit. Unplug and replug each connector one at a time to ensure good contact.
  • Restore power and see if the E8 code clears. If the unit briefly runs and then fails again, the board may be intermittently failing.
  • If there is visible damage or the error will not clear, replace the main control board with the exact Frigidaire replacement part number.

Note: Control board replacement is often best handled by a qualified technician due to the risk of miswiring.
