Possible Causes
Evaporator thermistor out of range, Poor contact between thermistor and plate, Partial refrigerant restriction, Control board timing fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing interior panels.
Check evaporator sensor and plate:
- Open the ice maker and locate the evaporator plate where ice forms.
- Find the thermistor or temperature sensor attached to the plate.
- Ensure the sensor is firmly attached and making good contact with the metal surface. Reclip or reattach if loose.
- Inspect wiring for damage and reseat the connector at the control board.
- Test the thermistor resistance and compare to the tech sheet. Replace if out of specification.
- After replacement, restore power and run a full cycle to see if ice thickness returns to normal and F2 clears.
If the problem persists: A sealed system issue or control board fault may be present and should be evaluated by a technician.
