Possible Causes

Defective ambient NTC temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Corroded connector on main control board, Failed main control board sensor input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Galanz ice maker from the wall outlet before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.

Steps to check and address E1:

  • Power reset: Unplug the ice maker for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. If E1 returns, continue.
  • Locate the ambient sensor: On most Galanz countertop ice makers, the ambient NTC sensor is clipped near the air intake or mounted on the side wall inside the cabinet, with two small wires leading to the control board.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the sensor wires for cuts, pinches, or burn marks. Ensure the connector is fully seated on the main control board.
  • Test the sensor (if you have a multimeter): Disconnect the sensor from the board and measure resistance at room temperature. A typical NTC sensor will read between 5–50 kΩ at ~25°C. If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
  • Replace the sensor: If defective, order a compatible Galanz ambient temperature sensor (NTC). Remove the old sensor clip or bracket, route the new sensor along the same path, and reconnect it to the board.
  • Check the control board: If a known-good sensor still gives E1, the main control board sensor input may be faulty. Inspect the board for burnt components. Replacement of the main control board is recommended and may require a professional.

When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or accessing the control board, or if replacing the sensor does not clear E1, contact an authorized Galanz service provider.
