Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker. The compressor and condenser components can be hot; allow them to cool before touching.
Steps to address E4:
- Check ventilation: Ensure the Galanz ice maker has at least 4–6 inches of clearance on all sides and is not placed in a confined cabinet. Clean any dust or lint from the condenser vents with a soft brush or vacuum.
- Inspect condenser fan: Remove the rear or bottom panel to access the condenser fan motor. Spin the fan blades by hand; they should move freely. If seized or noisy, replace the fan motor.
- Check condenser coil: Clean the condenser coil with a soft brush. Heavy dust buildup can cause overheating.
- Compressor components: Inspect the compressor overload protector and PTC starter relay mounted on the compressor terminals. Look for burn marks or melted plastic. Replace if damaged.
- Power test: After cleaning and checking components, reassemble, plug in, and monitor. If E4 returns quickly and the compressor is extremely hot to the touch, the compressor itself may be failing.
When to call a technician: If the compressor is not starting or is overheating repeatedly, professional diagnosis with proper refrigeration tools is required. Do not attempt to open the sealed system yourself.
