Possible Causes
Loose or cracked water inlet line, Clogged drain hose or pump, Overfilling due to faulty water level sensor, Cracked reservoir or drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and shut off the water supply immediately to prevent electrical hazards and water damage.
- Step 1 – Inspect water connections: Check the inlet line at the shutoff valve and at the ice maker inlet valve for drips. Tighten compression fittings and replace any cracked tubing.
- Step 2 – Check reservoir and drain: Remove the bin and inspect the reservoir for cracks. Pour water into the reservoir and watch for leaks around seams and the drain outlet.
- Step 3 – Clear drain hose: Disconnect the drain hose and flush it with hot water to remove clogs. Ensure the hose has a continuous downward slope.
- Step 4 – Test drain pump (if equipped): Verify the pump runs and discharges water properly. Replace the pump if it hums but does not move water.
- Step 5 – Replace damaged parts: Replace any cracked reservoir, drain pan, or hoses with GE-approved components.
