Ice maker is making loud grinding, rattling, or squealing noises during operation.

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before touching moving parts like fans or pumps.

• Step 1 – Identify noise source: Remove the front panel and listen carefully (with power briefly applied) to determine if the noise comes from the pump, fan, or compressor area. Then disconnect power.
• Step 2 – Inspect circulation pump: Remove the pump and check for debris in the impeller. Clean and reinstall. If the pump shaft is loose or noisy when spun by hand, replace the pump.
• Step 3 – Check condenser fan: Inspect the fan blades for contact with wiring or shrouds. Straighten bent blades and secure loose wires.
• Step 4 – Verify compressor mounts: Ensure rubber grommets under the compressor are intact and that mounting bolts are snug but not overtightened.
• Step 5 – Inspect ice path: Look for ice buildup rubbing against the evaporator or auger (on nugget models). Defrost and clean as needed.
