Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coil, High ambient room temperature, Partially clogged water filter, Scale buildup on evaporator or water distribution system
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning coils or internal components.
- Step 1 – Clean condenser coil: Remove the front grille or rear panel and vacuum/brush the condenser coil to restore airflow.
- Step 2 – Check room temperature: Ensure the ice maker is operating within the recommended ambient temperature range (typically 55–90°F). Move heat sources away if necessary.
- Step 3 – Replace water filter: Install a new GE-compatible water filter if the existing one is older than 6 months or flow seems weak.
- Step 4 – Descale the unit: Run a full cleaning/descaling cycle using GE-approved ice maker cleaner to remove mineral deposits from the evaporator, reservoir, and pump.
- Step 5 – Verify water level: Confirm the reservoir fills to the correct level and that the circulation pattern over the evaporator is even.
