Possible Causes
Overheating due to blocked airflow, Faulty thermistor reporting incorrect temperature, Bin full sensor stuck in full position, Control board fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning or accessing sensors.
- Step 1 – Check ventilation: Ensure front grille and rear vents are not blocked by cabinets or debris. Clean the condenser coil.
- Step 2 – Empty bin: Remove all ice and verify the bin full sensor or arm moves freely and is not stuck in the full position.
- Step 3 – Inspect thermistors: Check that evaporator and bin thermistors are properly mounted and not loose or damaged.
- Step 4 – Run diagnostic mode: If your GE Profile model supports diagnostics, enter test mode to check sensor readings. Replace any sensor that reads out of range.
- Step 5 – Replace control board: If sensors and airflow are correct but shutdown persists, the control board may be faulty.
