Possible Causes

Closed or partially closed shutoff valve, Clogged inlet screen on GE water valve, Failed water inlet valve coil, Frozen or kinked water line

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off water and unplug the unit before disconnecting any water lines.

  • Confirm water supply: Open a nearby faucet to verify household water pressure. Fully open the ice maker shutoff valve.
  • Inspect supply line: Check for kinks or sharp bends. In cold locations, feel for frozen sections and gently thaw with warm towels.
  • Clean inlet screen: Remove the rear panel, shut off water, disconnect the inlet line from the GE water valve, and clean the small screen filter inside the valve with a soft brush.
  • Test valve: Restore power and start a cycle. Listen for the valve click and water flow. If the valve does not open, replace the water inlet valve.
