How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and turn off water before cleaning. Use only food-safe cleaners.
- Discard old ice: Empty the bin completely and discard any ice with off-odors.
- Clean bin and interior: Wash the ice bin, reservoir, and accessible interior surfaces with a solution of warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly.
- Sanitize: Mix a food-safe sanitizer or a solution of 1 tablespoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water. Wipe surfaces and allow to air dry.
- Flush water line: Run water through the supply line into a bucket before reconnecting to flush stagnant water.
- Replace filter: If your GE ice maker uses a water filter, replace it with a genuine GE filter according to the schedule.
