Possible Causes

Failed evaporator thermistor, loose thermistor clip on evaporator plate, broken thermistor wiring, defective main control PCB sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Always unplug the Gevi ice maker before removing covers or touching internal components.

How to troubleshoot E2:

  • Reset the unit: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 reappears quickly, proceed with inspection.
  • Access the evaporator area: Remove the top or side cover to expose the evaporator (the cold metal grid/plate where ice forms).
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: Look for a small probe or bullet-style sensor clipped or taped directly to the evaporator plate, with two wires leading back to the control board.
  • Check mounting and condition: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator surface and not hanging loose. A loose sensor can misread temperature and trigger E2. Re-clip or re-tape it securely.
  • Inspect wiring and connector: Follow the sensor wires to the main control PCB. Confirm the connector is tight and free of corrosion or moisture. Dry any condensation around the connector.
  • Test the thermistor (advanced): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to expected values (often 10 kΩ at 25°C; check documentation if available). Replace the sensor if it reads open, shorted, or wildly off spec.
  • Replace parts as needed: If the sensor is faulty, install a new Gevi-compatible evaporator thermistor. If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main control PCB may need replacement by a qualified technician.
