E3
Gevi Ice Full / Bin Level Sensor Fault

E3 error on display; ice maker may start but stops mid-cycle or fails to harvest ice.

Possible Causes

Defective infrared ice level sensor, blocked ice level sensor window by frost or debris, misaligned ice full flap or sensor bracket, failed sensor input on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker before cleaning or adjusting internal sensors.

Steps to resolve E3:

  • Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage bin. Overfilled bins can block the sensor and trigger an error.
  • Locate the ice level sensor: On many Gevi models, this is an infrared emitter/receiver pair or a small optical window near the top of the ice bin, or a mechanical flap that detects ice height.
  • Clean the sensor area: Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with warm water to wipe the sensor windows or flap. Remove frost, mineral deposits, or dust that could block the beam.
  • Check alignment: Ensure the emitter and receiver modules face each other directly and that any plastic brackets are not bent. Gently adjust if misaligned.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control board. Confirm connectors are fully seated and wires are not pinched by panels.
  • Test operation: Plug the unit back in and run a cycle with the bin empty. If E3 clears and the unit runs normally, monitor for recurrence.
  • Replace sensor if needed: If E3 persists and the sensor is clean and aligned, replace the ice level sensor assembly with a Gevi-compatible part. If a new sensor does not resolve the issue, the main control PCB may be faulty and should be evaluated by a technician.
