Possible Causes
Failed circulation water pump, blocked pump impeller by debris, loose pump wiring connector, defective pump driver on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker and drain water before removing the pump or hoses.
How to resolve E6:
- Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the correct level. Some models will show E6 if the pump runs dry.
- Listen for pump operation: Plug in and start a cycle. Carefully listen for a low humming sound from the circulation pump. If silent, the pump may not be receiving power or may be seized.
- Inspect pump and hoses: Unplug the unit. Access the water reservoir area and locate the small circulation pump connected to silicone or vinyl hoses. Check for kinks, clogs, or mineral buildup in the hoses.
- Clean the pump inlet: Remove the pump from its mount if accessible. Check the inlet screen and impeller for debris (scale, plastic bits, etc.). Rinse with warm water and gently spin the impeller by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- Check wiring: Confirm the pump connector is firmly attached to the control board and that wires are intact.
- Replace pump if necessary: If the pump is receiving power but does not run, or if the impeller is damaged, replace the circulation water pump with a Gevi-compatible unit.
