Possible Causes

Room temperature outside operating range, blocked air intake or exhaust vents, faulty ambient temperature sensor, control board misreading sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: No internal work is required for basic checks, but unplug the unit if you remove panels.

How to handle E8:

  • Check room temperature: Ensure the Gevi ice maker is used in an environment within the specified range (typically 50–100°F / 10–38°C). Move the unit to a more suitable location if necessary.
  • Improve ventilation: Make sure the air intake and exhaust vents are not blocked by walls, cabinets, or other appliances. Provide at least several inches of clearance around the unit.
  • Avoid heat sources: Do not place the ice maker next to ovens, dishwashers, or direct sunlight, which can cause overheating.
  • Reset the unit: Unplug for 10–15 minutes, then plug back in and test. If E8 returns in a proper environment, the ambient sensor or control board may be faulty.
  • Inspect ambient sensor (advanced): If comfortable opening the unit, locate and test the ambient temperature sensor as described for E1. Replace if readings are out of range.
