Possible Causes
Defective water inlet valve (on plumbed-in models), clogged inlet screen, low household water pressure, faulty water level sensor feedback to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker and shut off the water supply before disconnecting any water lines.
Steps to troubleshoot E9:
- Check water supply: Confirm the water supply valve to the Gevi ice maker is fully open and that other fixtures in the home have normal pressure.
- Inspect inlet hose: Look for kinks, sharp bends, or pinched sections in the inlet hose. Straighten or replace as needed.
- Clean inlet screen: Disconnect the hose at the ice maker's water inlet valve. Inspect the small mesh screen inside the valve fitting and clean any sediment or debris.
- Verify leaks or overfill: If the unit overfills, inspect the water level sensor or float for proper operation (see E7). A stuck float can cause the valve to stay open.
- Test valve operation (advanced): With the unit unplugged, check the valve coil resistance with a multimeter. A completely open or shorted coil indicates a bad valve.
- Replace faulty parts: Install a new water inlet valve if it fails to open/close correctly. If the valve is good but E9 persists, the control board or water level sensor may require replacement.
